Welcome to The Country Players

This is the site of the Northfield Country Players.

NCP, Inc. is a cultural non-profit Massachusetts corporation known throughout the Pioneer Valley as The Country Players. Its primary goal is to engage in the production of, the promotion of, and other related activities involved in presenting community-based quality theater for the educational and cultural development of participants and audiences. The Country Players provide the opportunity for the participants' development in drama, art and dance, as well as in the technical, business and management aspects involved in presenting theatrical productions.

TCP to sponsor "Piecework: When We Were French"

The Country Players are proud to announce their sponsoring of Abby Paige's one-person performance of "Piecework: When We Were French". The show will be hosted at the Shea Theater on January 30th, 2011.

"Piecework: When We Were French" tells the stories behind French-Canadian immigration to New England, and it's influence on the region's culture. You can learn more about the show from it's website.

TCP receives grant for performance of STOMP!

The Country Players presents an award annually to graduating secondary school students who have participated in at least three school or community theatrical productions and/or have contributed to the Country Players program in a significant way.

"I Am the Shea" - January 31st at the Shea!

TCP will join other Shea performers to benefit the Shea Theater in I Am The Shea, a FREE performance on Sunday, January 31 at 2 p.m. Donations will be taken at the door to benefit the Shea Theater.

I Am the Shea will showcase the history of performers at the Shea Theater. Sue MacDonald will be reprising her role as Lucy in TCP's first show ever, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, singing "Happiness Is". See John Iverson as King Arthur from Camelot, and Emma Henderson and Keara MacDonald singing "Consider Yourself" from Oliver.

These selections will be joined by performers from Arena Civic Theatre, Ja'Duke, Celtic Heels School of Irish Dance, and others to salute the range of offerings at the Shea. The show will be hosted by WHAI radio personality Nick Danjer, himself a Shea Theater star. There will also be a special guest comedian, Myq Kaplan.

TCP Annual Meeting - February 9th

TCP will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Feb 9th at 7 PM at the GCC Downtown Campus . Anyone who has performed or assisted in the production of a TCP event is invited to attend. Please come and share our review of the past year and plans for the year to come.

Summer Show Changed from 'Hello Dolly' to 'Brigadoon'

The 2010 summer show, previously announced as Hello Dolly, has been changed. The Country Players will be presenting Brigadoon, directed by Amy Connelly. The show dates will be will be July 9, 10, 16, 17, and 18. Audition dates are still to be announced.
